Caso®Feed: Solvay calcium chloride for the prevention of hypocalcemia

CASO®Feed by Solvay

Among anionic salts, calcium chloride (CaCl₂) has proven to be one of the most effective solutions for supporting blood calcium levels, thanks to its high bioavailability and its ability to induce a mild metabolic acidification in cows. This stimulates the physiological mechanisms responsible for mobilizing calcium from body reserves.

To verify whether the animal is responding to the inclusion of anions in the diet, it is useful to monitor urinary pH, which should remain within the range of 5.5 to 6.2.

Solvay produces CASO®Feed, a line of calcium chloride dihydrate specifically developed for applications in animal nutrition.

CASO®Feed: Powder and Flakes — flexibility for every production need

The range includes two forms of CASO®Feed: Powder and Flakes, which differ in physical form but are nutritionally identical. They are designed to meet the different requirements and application methods of feed manufacturers and premix producers within their production processes.

Both guarantee the same high bioavailability of calcium chloride dihydrate and provide the same physiological support in helping prevent hypocalcemia during the transition period. They differ in plant handling and application: Powder is suited for precise dosing, while Flakes enable faster mixing and improved dust control.
