Vitamin C
Features
Vitamin C or ascorbic acid has reducing properties and is biologically active in both the reduced and oxidised form. It plays a synergistic role with adrenaline and is involved in the production of collagen by fibroblasts; finally, it exerts a trophic activity on the capillaries. |
Most animals are able to synthesise vitamin C from glucose or other monosaccharides. The anti-stress factor is therefore the main reason for use in animal nutrition. |
