Solvay will expand its sodium bicarbonate capacity by 150 000 tonnes in its Devnya plant in Bulgaria, addressing worldwide demand growth for various applications, especially in animal nutrition and flue gas cleaning.
“This expansion at Devnya will provide our customers with another secure source of sodium bicarbonate supply” said Cristiano Fummi, Head of Solvay’s Bicar Business, which is part of Solvay’s Global Business Unit Soda Ash & Derivatives.
The new production line is expected to be operational by the end of 2020. It will produce, in particular, BICAR®Z, a premium quality of sodium bicarbonate buffer for animal nutrition adopted and well recognized by breeders all around Europe, Middle East and Africa for its cost efficiency and natural properties.
