lipid X - insect oil

Lipid X is a purified insect oil obtained from Hermetia illucens larvae (black soldier fly); it represents an alternative and sustainable fat source. The unique composition of fatty acids makes the product an ideal substitute for vegetable oils and animal fats. A number of preliminary studies have shown there are no negative effects on the palatability or performance of animals fed with this fat source.
Lipid X is easily digestible thanks to the high content of medium-chain fatty acids naturally present in the larvae of these insects (e.g. lauric acid).
